April is Autism Awareness Month
|
April is Autism Awareness Month- a time to recognize, support, and celebrate individuals on the spectrum. Autism is a developmental condition that affects how a person communicates, experiences the world, and interacts with others. It's called a spectrum because every individual is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and ways of expressing themselves. Currently, 1 in 31 U.S. children aged 8 is identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Adults are estimated at 1 in 45 in the U.S. Around the world, 1 in 100 children are diagnosed with autism. Many individuals with autism have incredible strengths, such as deep focus, creativity, honesty, and attention to detail. Early understanding, acceptance, compassion, and support can make a meaningful difference in quality of life. This is where Spectrum Connection of Arkansas can help you and your loved ones bridge the gap by building a practical framework and support team centered around the specific needs of the neurodivergent community. This 501(C)(3) provides awareness, education, resources, and special educational and awareness events. For more information, please call 870-404-3468 or visit www.spectrumconnectionofarkansas.com |
